We had such a "back to nature"experience today! The first sign on the red-marked trail read "Listen". It was so nice to have a "rule follower" among us! Luke, John's friend, kept us quiet. We were able to hear the chirping birds, the rustling leaves, and the babbling brook! It was quite a change from the hour ride there...
After 1.8 miles of relative silence, we arrived at the beach and the monkeys dug for shark's teeth and "dinosaur bones". Sarah initiated a little cliff climbing, and the boys followed.
Once the explorers gathered enough fossil samples, we trekked 1.8 miles back. Amazingly, not a complaint of fatigue was muttered. They even had enough energy to enjoy the tire park. The boys did catch a skink... well the skink's tail. I didn't know the tails still wiggled when they were detached from the body! The boys were having a GREAT time with the wiggling tail! I informed them that we must not take it home with us! With my luck, it would get lost in my car... only to be "discovered" by my nose as it decomposed...
